Galloway says he’ll sue Canadian government

Firebrand British antiwar activist George Galloway says that Immigration Minister Jason Kenney ruined his reputation.

Last year Kenney said that Galloway, a British MP at the time, was not welcome in Canada because he had provided material support to Palestinian group Hamas, which the government considers a terrorist organization. In March of 2009, Galloway donated £25,000 to Hamas prime minister Ismail Haniya in the Gaza Strip. Arriving in Toronto this weekend on an antiwar speaking tour, Galloway said he had met with his lawyers and has decided to sue the Canadian government as a result of Kenney's statements. Galloway says the minister’s comments have made it difficult for him to travel internationally because security officials now consider him a threat. Galloway also said Sunday that he’d stand outside Kenney’s constituency office in Calgary until the minister agreed to debate with him. He might be there a while.
