Militants attacked a fuel convoy a day after Pakistan closed its border to protest NATO strikes.
Earlier this week a NATO helicopter accidentally killed three Pakistani soldiers. In response Pakistan shut down one of the border crossings that NATO frequently uses to ship supplies into Afghanistan. It is suspected that the convoy that was attacked today was en route to another crossing that was still open. Gunman stormed dozens of tankers at a truck stop in Sindh province shortly after midnight, and let all personnel go before setting the trucks on fire. No one was hurt. The incident highlights the tensions between Pakistan and NATO, which have forged a shaky alliance in their fight against the Taliban. It may also be a sign that insurgents’ are becoming emboldened as attacks in Sindh, which is far from the border, are rare.
