Chopper crash is the most deadly in years.
Nine NATO soldiers were killed today when their helicopter crashed in the southern province of Zabul. Their nationalities have not been released. A U.S. civilian, an Afghan National Army Soldier, and a coalition soldier survived the crash. The Taliban says it shot down the aircraft, but NATO sources say there was no enemy fire reported in the area. Helicopters are the main form of transport for NATO soldiers in Zabul, where NATO is increasing its presence as it seeks to push the Taliban out of the region. Thirty-seven international service members have been killed in Afghanistan this month.
