Sufferers of multiple sclerosis are demanding the government fund trials of the controversial liberation therapy treatment.

MS patients are showing an unprecedented level of organization in their attempts to gain access to an unproven treatment called liberation therapy. Having already organized Facebook pages and media campaigns, today MS sufferers and their families will take their cause to Ottawa in a protest coinciding with the opening of the fall session of Parliament. The federal government has refused to fund clinical trials of the treatment because experts say it contradicts most known science on the disease and could be dangerous. Anecdotally, some sufferers say the treatment has relieved their symptoms. Some physicians say media reports, rather than good science, is fueling the push for liberation therapy.
