On Wednesday a lawyer filed a motion to dismiss the sexual impropriety case against a Manitoba judge and her husband.
Alex Chapman is suing Winnipeg judge Lori Douglas and her lawyer husband Jack King for $67-million. Chapman alleges that King attempted to coerce him into sleeping with Douglas while he was representing him during his divorce in 2003. But Chapman and King already reached a settlement in 2003 in which Chapman accepted $25,000 in exchange for releasing King from further claims. On the basis of that settlement, King’s lawyer has filed a motion to dismiss the new lawsuit. Last month Chapman came forward with incriminating nude photos of Douglas which caused her to resign her post as one of the province’s top judges.
