Mideast leaders meet again today to discuss peace

Hilary Clinton, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Mahmoud Abbas are in Egypt today to press ahead with a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

At their second round of face-to-face talks in two weeks, U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton is pressing Israeli and Palestinian leaders to resolve the first major disagreement in the peace negotiations. A freeze on building Israeli settlements on disputed land in the West Bank is set to expire on September 26, and while the Palestinians say that a resumption of settlement construction would seriously undermine peace talks, Israeli Prime Minister faces intense pressure from the more hawkish elements of his coalition government to allow construction to resume. Clinton said the official U.S. position is that the freeze should be extended, but that a deal will require flexibility from both sides. The talks continue tomorrow in Jerusalem.
