Scott Nelson, formerly a key supporter of Premier Gordon Campbell, says its time to throw in the towel.
Premier Gordon Campbell’s handling of the harmonized sales tax has been so politically damaging to his own party that at least one former ally is saying the Liberals can’t win an election with him in charge. Scott Nelson chaired the Liberal provincial council for years and was one of the first to urge Campbell to run for the party’s leadership, but now says Campbell’s become a liability. Campbell first opposed the unpopular HST, then reversed his decision and implemented it soon after being elected. It’s since been revealed the Liberals were contemplating implementing it before they were elected.
