A man believed to be deranged environmentalist is currently in a standoff with police.

A man identified by police as James Lee is reportedly holding hostage an unknown number of people at the Discovery Channel's Maryland headquarters. There are currently no reports of injuries but Lee is believed to be armed with a handgun, and was seen walking into the building with some kind of metal canisters attached to his body. It is unclear what, if any, demands Lee has, but he is believed to be a fanatical environmentalist and online postings attributed to him say "All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants." Update: The National Post is reporting that the gunman in the hostage situation has been shot and killed.
