Television ad promotes the use of medical marijuana

A California television ad by Cannacare, a medical marijuana advocacy organization, is believed to be the first pot commercial ever aired in the state, which is currently debating legalizing the drug. The spot features people talking about how marijuana has helped them deal with serious medical ailments, but doesn’t feature direct references to the drug or images of marijuana plants. In November Californians will vote on Proposition 19, a ballot measure that would make it legal to possess marijuana for personal use and to sell one ounce of the drug at retail locations. California is deeply in debt and taxing the sale of cannabis is expected to be extremely lucrative.
