Swedish prosecutors have decided to go ahead with the case against Julian Assange
Police in Sweden first issued an arrest warrant for Julian Assange on August 20, only to withdraw it less than 24 hours later because of lack of evidence. Prosecutors have now reopened the case against the founder of whistleblowing site WikiLeaks, saying new information has come to light that incriminates him in the rape of one woman and the sexual coercion of another. The events allegedly took place while Assange, and Australian citizen, was in Stockholm for a conference on August 14. Assange angered governments around the world when he released thousands of secret documents on the Afghan War in July, and says the charges are part of a plot to discredit him.
