Awso Peshdary is being detained on unrelated domestic assault charges, and could go free on bail today

A man arrested in last week’s terrorism sweep in Ottawa is to appear in court today to seek his release on bail. The RCMP has said that they believe he was involved in an alleged bomb plot that resulted in the arrests of three other men on Wednesday, but police have been unable to bring terrorism charges against him as yet. He was arrested on domestic assault charges on Friday and granted bail on Saturday, only to be rearrested on similar domestic charges before leaving the courthouse. It would be unusual for a judge to refuse bail on the minor charges he is facing.
