Afghanistan mission claims another Canadian soldier

Corporal Brian Pinksen was injured by a bomb blast last week. He died today in a German hospital.

Another Canadian soldier has died after suffering severe injuries in an IED attack last week. Corporal Brian Pinksen of the 2nd Battalion with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment was on patrol in the Panjawi district of Afghanistan on August 22 when he was wounded by an explosive. He was taken from Afghanistan to a military hospital in Germany, where he succumbed to his wounds today. Pinksen is the 152nd Canadian killed in the Afghan conflict since 2002, and the first Canadian soldier to die since July 20.
