Man shot dead by Toronto police

Witnesses say the man refused to drop a knife he was carrying, and was shot at least three times by police.
One man is dead after Toronto police officers responded to a call involving a confrontation on a bus in the city’s east end yesterday afternoon. Witnesses say the police boxed in the Toronto Transit Commission bus with their cruisers and a man carrying a knife came out. Reportedly the 25-year-old man refused to drop his weapon, and police shot him three times. The Special Investigations Unit of the police force is investigating the officers’ conduct in the shooting. It is the third fatal shooting by Toronto police officers since December 2009.
