Outrage grows as physical evidence increasingly points to reckless police action

Sadness is turning to anger today in the Philippines, as suspicion grows that some of the passengers who died during a hostage situation on a Manila bus may have been killed by police gunfire. The Manila police have been widely criticized for their handling of the crisis, which developed after a gunman took control of a tour bus. The gunman and eight others, including three Canadians, were killed, but many of the bullet holes riddling the bus appear to have been fired from the outside. Allegations are now being made that Jason Leung, a dual Canadian-Chinese citizen, was hit in the head with a sledgehammer police used to storm the bus. He’s recovering in hospital.
