Canadians onboard Filipino hostage bus

Nine people were killed after a gunman took a tour bus hostage in Manila yesterday, and Canadians are believed to have been onboard

Five Canadians are believed to have been inside a Manila bus where a 12-hour hostage situation ended in a flurry of gunfire yesterday. A former police officer armed with an automatic rifle seized the tour bus in a desperate attempt to be reinstated on the force, and killed eight passengers before being shot to death by Filipino police. The tour company that owns the bus says five people onboard were traveling on Canadian passports, but Canadian Embassy officials have yet to confirm those statements. It’s unclear if any Canadians were hurt. The governments of Hong Kong and China, where most of the passengers were from, are condemning the Filipino police force’s handling of the situation.
